Companionship with Western Diocese
Orientation for Deepening your Congregation’s Relationship with your Matched Parish
Sponsored by Companion Synod/Global Mission Task Force of ECSW
Sponsored by Companion Synod/Global Mission Task Force of ECSW
Three Orientations with presentations, discussions, and interaction prepared those going to South Africa in 2013, and strengthened congregations seeking to deepen their understanding of "accompaniment", the ELCA Companion Synod program, and their congregation’s matched relationship with a parish in the Western Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Africa.
This is a model for future trips and experiences of accompaniment.
Our thanks to Darlene Kalfahs and the ECSW Resource Center for handling the registration.

That conversation emphasized the importance of orientation, debriefing, and accompaniment. It is important that we hear their expectations and desires so we are well prepared to represent our congregations, Conference, ECSW and ELCA.
This is a model for future trips and experiences of accompaniment.

- It is important as we travel to see that we are white, westerners, with real opportunities for education, employment, and travel and to be aware of that reality in ourselves as well as how it may be perceived by those we visit.
